Nature of the Universe

The Nature of the Universe

is a super-series of paintings that tells the story of the idea of Emanationism.

The idea is that

there is an abstract but perceivable flow of underlying, elemental connectivity that emanates

from a singular source of all material creation.

The super-series is comprised of three distinct parts, and can be understood as a sequence of

universal happenings.

First series I call the voids. These are about emptiness and infinity. These are also about the

beginning. It's about first division of space and time is where 1 becomes 10, subsequently

followed by exponential growth.

Second series is about basic substances and underlying elements. I think of this series as basic

separations of light and dark. Colors emerge from the infinite light and are contained within

basic shapes often being surrounded by a void darkness.

Third series brings us out of the abstract into a sense of tangibility. Colors and shapes are

blending and aligning in new ways. Galaxies, Planets, and Landscapes are distinguishable.

There is a sense of many things and moving parts but these parts are generally unclear where

one begins and another ends. I like to call these hieroglyphic landscapes because its like a

view of what a landscape would look like when viewed over an exceptionally long period of

time.

These paintings are about the beautiful sequence of universal creative process. First there is

static, then, bang, something exists, but we don't know what is it or where it came from.

That is The Nature of the Universe.
